It was a great opportunity to participate in the FMC 2020, and it was also a great honor to be the 3rd place winner for the category of ‘Original Music for the film Kerama Blue’, as this is my first time participating in an event as important as this. Realizing that I was one of the winners were such unexpected news for me. I want to thank the whole team of FMC for making this kind of event, especially during these hard times we’re all facing because of COVID-19. I also would like to congratulate everyone who participated in the other categories. And finally, I encourage other composers, musicians and amateur musicians to participate in the 2021 edition because it is an opportunity to keep growing as a professional and touching hearts through music.

I learned about the FMC-Film Music Contest through facebook and I understood that it would give me the opportunity to confront myself with musicians from all over the world. The presence of professionals in the sector in the jury and in the organization were decisive in the choice to register for this contest. I think it’s fantastic that the FMC-Film Music Contest has opened up to music at 360º giving the possibility to those who, like me, also write instrumental music.

For me, taking part in the FMC was a great adventure! It was the first film music competition I took part in, and everything about it was very exciting! This contest allows competing with many talented participants from all over the world, regardless of age. It offers a great variety of different categories! There is a very prestigious, international jury and fantastic, valuable, and useful prizes! I have never expected to go so far! Winning the second place is an honour for me, and it’s a great motivation to keep working. Thanks to the FMC team for organizing this wonderful event and for giving us many opportunities for our further development!

Being awarded for my work in the Original Music for Theatre category means a lot for me; especially for the composition I presented, in which I believe so much, I feel greatly honored for the recognition of the Jury. This has gave me an amazing stimulus in creating new music and trying to improve my composing skills. For all this reasons, I believe the FMC contest has been a great step in my career as composer.

I applied to FMC without knowing much about the competition, simply on recommendation from a friend in Serbia. It has been enormous fun to go through the process of submission amongst so many other wonderful composers from across the world, and I was especially delighted to be a finalist, then second-place prize winner in my category of original theatre music. Much composition is in store for the coming years amid my usual Musical Directing work, (if we ever are released from lock-down!): a song-cycle I am writing for the stage with the wonderful lyricist Rebecca Shanks and more off-piste a sonata for clarinet which has been in the pipeline for a while, desperate to be finished! I want to wish all composers across the world a speedy recovery from the Covid 19 crisis, and my thoughts are with our industry as it regains its strength over the coming years. And of course thank you once again to FMC for this opportunity, which I can heartily recommend to others alike.
